Memorandum from the London Borough of Lambeth (MARKETS 35)

Lambeth Council Markets has no specific complaint about the current market legislation under the London Local Authorities Act 1990(amended), in terms of enforcements.

We have adopted it and found it to be useful and practical when dealing street traders in the borough.

It is restrictive in terms of income generation and funding from third parties .This is because of the nature of the street trading account, which is ringed fenced .Preventing and making it virtually impossible to apply for grants or funding directly.

Thus making it difficult to improve services and advertise to attract good professional traders with high quality goods the UK on order to attract and retain good traders.
