Email sent by Mr Frank Brady to HM Consul, Consulate-General Paris

As an official of the EU working here in Brussels I cannot believe that the decision has been taken to move the processing of British Passports to Paris. Given the number of EU institutions, Nato and other international organisations not to mention the number of major International Companies here in Brussels this decision shows once again the lack of the British Governments commitment to Europe. This decision which I presume has been taken for financial reasons does obviously not take into consideration the costs to British citizens who will now have to travel to Paris. Alternatively the passports will now be sent by international mail for those who cannot afford to go to Paris. This I presume will be by registered International mail which is equally very costly.

This is equally quite insulting to the Belgian state in so far as the UK government doesn't consider Belgium worthy of full consular treatment for it's own citizens

Outrageous. I cannot begin to express my frustration at the arrogance of this decision.
