OT 362: E-mail from Henry Jolson: Turks and Caicos Islands

Where is the final report of the Commission of Inquiry

I trust that by the time this letter is published that its assumptions and questions would have all been meaningless, as well as, a waste of time. I hoping that I really did not have to write this letter. But it is 1.00 pm in the afternoon of May 31st 2009 and there is no final report, the publication of one and or a date set for the removal of this Government and or the installation of the Interim Government. These were promised in the interim report. The country is suffering and the future of the TCI is at risk. As we speak patients are suffering in the Hospital because there are no beds, there is no medicine, Doctors are not available and there are no monies. The country is one month past April 1st and there is no budget. I am sure there is a massive deficit that the people of the TCI must pay for.

In London, the Speaker of the House has to resign because of "questions of impropriety". Ministers, backbenchers and opposition MPS are all implicated in corruption. In fact the body politic of Government has deteriorated to the point where no one can be trusted. With 100s of Millions even Billions at stake many politicians are prepared to risk their reputations for a Dollar, cover-up corruption and wok on investor's payrolls. This is one of the reasons why the TCI has reached to this level of "amorality" We are hearing that a "deal" has been made to keep the PNP Government in Power. I am hoping that this is not true and the thoughts, like mine, of an overactive imagination. By all means the Government of Michael Misick has to go. As we speak Mike Misick is calling the shots. As we speak his pictures are everywhere in the acting premier's Office, Mike Misick is still setting policy and the PNP Government which he heads in exile is calling for independence. The policy of depriving Turks & Caicos Islanders, long-term residents, Dominicans, Jamaicans, Haitians and other friends of ours jobs is still in effect. The whole country has been bought out and the people who live in the TCI have no real future under this Government. Our future depends on the removal of this Government.

In the Turks and Caicos Islands many of us look to the British Government as knowing the difference between right and wrong. They are human just like us. In some ways, inhumane because they unleashed one of the highest organized mob operations on the people of the TCI for the past six years by helping the PNP Government come to power. It confounds many thinkers as to why?

1. In 2003 the Chief Justice accepted the word of Convicts and found that the PDM was bribing voters. This caused a bi-election and the installation of the utterly corrupt PNP government. That Chief justice was promoted and thanked by placing him on the Court of Appeal.

2. The PNP Government was under suspicion of corruption for the past 6 years and the Labour Government protected them. Thank God for the Labour MPs and the Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the House of Commons who agitated and insisted that there be a commission of Enquiry for the TCI.

3. The Labour Government witnessed Mike Misick become a millionaire at the Country's expense and helped him get the title of Premier even though they knew he was corrupt. Former Governors Poston and Tauwhare called for Commissions of Enquiries but they got deaf ears.

4. Megg Munn as minister responsible for these islands said one year ago that there was no evidence of corruption in the TCI.

But we are one year later, May 31st 2009. There is no final report as promised and we ask the same questions. Is the current Labour Government so morally compromised and bankrupted that they cannot wield the moral axe needed to remove this government?

Has a deal been made and have they sold the people of the TCI out?

I am hoping that all of the panic and wild imagination in this letter is all but that. I am hoping that by the end of today that there will be a final report from the Commission published and the date set for the removal of this Government.
