Memorandum from Professor Cliff Hardcastle,
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Enterprise), Teeside University
(NE 17)
The market share of QR income to the North East
Universities is 4.4% of the national allocation. This compares
to 40.6% for the golden triangle and also does not compare well
with Greater Manchester (University of Manchester, Manchester
Metropolitan University, University of Salford) which attracts
6.1%. Indeed, even the University of Manchester attracts a higher
volume of QR funding than all of the North East Universities put
together.
