Dear Ms Sawyer
I am a member of the Friends of the
Suburban Railways in Bristol, particularly the Severn Beach
line (I live on that route). I do sometimes visit Severn
Beach and possible a new plant is
opening to Severn
Beach and more trains
from Monday to Friday till late in the evening would be useful. Others go there
to fish and bird-watch. An ASLEP rep came to our last meeting at Shirehampton
Station and mentioned the possibility of a two-track system fully electrified
from Shirehampton to Severn
Beach and beyond. We also
visited a café at Severn
Beach last Christmas and the café owner who uses the line
mentioned being stranded at Avonmouth.
Also we are visiting Severn
Beach for a slide show and there is
mention of a train system from Bristol to Westbury
on Tryn from 1895 to about 1938 connecting with a Severn Beach
bus during the same era. I hear the Seven
Beach bus from Bristol now only runs twice daily from Monday
to Friday in contrast. This isn't good.
Yours faithfully
M Coueslant (Mr)
