Require
the compulsory installation of automatic fire sprinklers in all

Be
it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty,
by and with the advice and |
|
|
consent of the Lords Spiritual
and Temporal, and Commons, in this present |
|
|
Parliament assembled, and
by the authority of the same, as follows:— |

Installation
of automatic fire sprinklers |
|
|
(1) |
The Secretary of State must,
not later than 31 December 2010, make regulations |
|
|
for the compulsory installation
of automatic fire sprinklers in all new-build |
|
|
educational establishments. |
|
|
(2) |
Regulations under this section
may make such incidental or transitional |
|

provision as the Secretary
of State considers appropriate. |
|
|
(3) |
Regulations under this section
shall be made by statutory instrument and shall |
|
|
be subject to annulment in
pursuance of a resolution of either House of |
|
|
|
|
|
10 |
Section 35 of the Building
Act 1984 (penalty for contravening building |
|
|
regulations) shall apply
to the contravention of regulations under section 1 as |
|
|
it applies to the contravention
of building regulations. |
|
|
3 |
Short
title, commencement and extent |
|
|
(1) |
This Act may be cited as
the Fire Safety (Schools) Act 2010. |
|
15 |
(2) |
This Act comes into force
on the day on which it is passed. |
|
|
(3) |
This Act extends to England
and Wales. |
