Children: Poverty

Jim Cousins: To ask the Minister for the Cabinet Office how many and what percentage of children are living in poverty in each region and country of the UK; and what percentage of children in poverty lived in households where one or more members of the household were in work in each year from 2005 to 2009. [302569]

Helen Goodman: I have been asked to reply.

Information on the number and percentage of children living in low income households in each region and country of the UK is given in the table for periods where data are available. Regional data are presented as three-year averages, due to variability in single-year estimates.
