I read recently that the committee is to investigate
the banks wishes to stop issuing cheques and that alternatives
are being considered.
As a constant user of cheques when I cannot
use direct debit or a credit card (eg sending gifts to younger
members of the family as the postal system seems unable to deliver
birthday cards etc which might contain gift cards). I also use
cheques to pay for items bought from firms to whom I do not wish
to give my credit or banking card details.
I wonder what alternatives are possible. I am
sure I am not the only person who does not wish to see the demise
of the cheque system.
