To

Apply the provisions of the Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004 to the

construction industry; and for connected purposes. 

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and

consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Application of provisions

(1)   

The Gangmasters (Licensing) Act 2004 is amended as follows.

(2)   

After section 3(1)(a) insert—

“(ab)   

construction work,”.

(3)   

After section 3(3) insert—

“(3A)   

In subsection (1)(ab) “construction work” means work in the

construction industry.

(3B)   

In this Act “the construction industry” means the activities of the

construction industry as defined in sub-paragraphs (a) to (i) of

paragraph 1 of Schedule 1 to the Industrial Training (Construction

Board) Order 1964 (S.I. 1964/1079).”.

(4)   

Title, after “agricultural work,” insert “construction work,”.

Financial provisions

There shall be paid out of money provided by Parliament any increase attributable to

this Act in the sums payable under any other Act out of money so provided.

Transitional etc. arrangements

(1)   

The Secretary of State may make such transitional, transitory or saving

provision as he considers appropriate.

(2)   

Provision under subsection (1) shall be made by regulations made by statutory

instrument which shall be subject to annulment in pursuance of a resolution of

either House of Parliament.

Short title and commencement

(1)   

This Act may be cited as the Gangmasters Licensing (Extension to Construction

Industry) Act 2011.

(2)   

This Act comes into force at the end of the period of 2 months beginning with

the day on which it is passed.
