To

Amend section 5 of the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004 to

include serious harm to a child or vulnerable adult; to make consequential

amendments to the Act; and for connected purposes. 

Be it enacted by the Queen’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and

consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Amendments to the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004

(1)   

The Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2004 is amended as follows.

(2)   

In section 5(1)(a), after “dies” insert “or is seriously harmed”.

(3)   

In section 5(1)(d), after “death” insert “or serious harm”.

(4)   

In section 5(3)(a), after “death” insert “or serious harm”.

(5)   

In section 5(4)(b), after “death” insert “or serious harm”.

(6)   

In section 6(5), after “section 5”, insert “of death or serious harm”.

(7)   

In section 7(5), after “section 5”, insert “of death or serious harm”.

Short title, commencement and extent

(1)   

This Act may be cited as the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims

(Amendment) Act 2011.

(2)   

This Act comes into force on such day as the Secretary of State may by order

made by statutory instrument appoint.

(3)   

This Act extends to England and Wales.
