Resolution of the Programming Sub-Committee

 

The Programming Sub-Committee appointed by the Speaker in respect of the Bill

 

agreed the following Resolution at its meeting on Wednesday 8 September (Standing

 

Order No. 83C):

 

That—

 

(1)  

the Committee shall (in addition to its first meeting at 10.30 am on Tuesday

 

14 September) meet—

 

(a)  

at 4.00 pm on Tuesday 14 September;

 

(b)  

at 9.00 am and 1.00 pm on Thursday 16 September;

 

(2)  

the Committee shall hear oral evidence in accordance with the following

Resolution of the Programming Sub-Committee [Standing Order No. 83C(9)].

Clause  1,  page  1,  leave out lines 7 to 10 and insert—

 

‘(a)    

in the case of a person earning more than £30,000 per year, an amount

 

equal to that person’s pensionable earnings for 24 months;

 

(b)    

in the case of a person earning between £20,000 and £30,000 per year, an

 

amount either equal to that person’s pensionable earnings for 36 months,

 

or £60,000, whichever figure is lower;

 

(c)    

in the case of a person earning less than £20,000 per year, an amount

 

equal to that person’s pensionable earnings for 36 months.’.

Clause  1,  page  2,  line  3,  at end insert—

 

‘(4A)    

Where a person is at least 50 with a minimum of 5 years’ service at the time of

 

this Bill coming into force a person in that case will be entitled to receive a

 

compensation benefit sufficient to buy out the actuarial reduction on their earned

 

pension under section 1 of the Superannuation Act 1972.’.

Clause  2,  page  3,  line  14,  at end insert—

 

‘(2A)    

Section 1 shall not come into force until the Minister has laid a report of

 

consultations that have taken place with the workforce and their representative

 

trade unions under section 2(3) of the Superannuation Act 1972, and the House

 

of Commons has come to a Resolution on a Motion in the name of a Minister of

 

the Crown approving the report.’.

Order of the House [7 September 2010]

 

That the following provisions shall apply to the Superannuation Bill:

 

Committal

 

1.    

The Bill shall be committed to a Public Bill Committee.

 

Proceedings in Public Bill Committee

 

2.    

Proceedings in the Public Bill Committee shall (so far as not previously

 

concluded) be brought to a conclusion on Thursday 16 September 2010.

 

3.    

The Public Bill Committee shall have leave to sit twice on the first day on

 

which it meets.

 

Consideration and Third Reading

 

4.    

Proceedings on consideration shall (so far as not previously concluded) be

 

brought to a conclusion three hours after the commencement of those

 

proceedings.

 

5.    

Proceedings on Third Reading shall (so far as not previously concluded) be

 

brought to a conclusion four hours after the commencement of proceedings

 

on consideration.

 

6.    

Standing Order No. 83B (Programming committees) shall not apply to

 

proceedings on consideration and Third Reading.
