Member’s explanatory statement

 

This amendment is intended to give the police and crime panels the power to require chief

 

constables to attend the panel to answer questions that relate to the commissioner’s decisions and

 

priorities. Under the Bill, the panels can require the commissioner and his staff to attend panel

 

meetings but not the chief constable.
