Government Procurement Card
Chris Kelly: To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government how many Government Procurement Card transactions were made by his Department's officials withdrawing cash from automated teller machines from 2006-07 to 2009-10; at what cost; and on what dates. [67432]
[Official Report, 7 September 2011, Vol. 532, c. 647-8W.]
Letter of correction from Robert Neill:
An error has been identified in the written answer given to the hon. Member for Dudley South (Chris Kelly) on 7 September 2011. The duplicated amount on 8 September 2006 of £351.42 should have been ‘-£351.42’, where the money was immediately reimbursed.
The full answer given was as follows:
Robert Neill [holding answer 19 July 2011]:The following cash withdrawals have been made by departmental officials from April 2006 to March 2010:
Amount (£) | |
Currently the Department pays a 2.95% fee on cash advances (minimum charge of £2.95). For foreign exchange transactions we pay a 2.95% fee (minimum charge of £2.95 plus a further currency exchange purchase fee of 2.95%).
The new administration has reviewed its policy on Government Procurement Card usage. As well as reducing the number of cards held, the Department has cancelled the cash withdrawal facility for all but two Government Procurement Card holders (for business continuity reasons).
The correct answer should have been:

Sport and Youth Crime
The following is an extract from the closing speech given by the Minister for Policing and Criminal Justice, the right hon. Member for Arundel and South Downs (Nick Herbert) to the hon. Member for Folkestone and Hythe (Damian Collins) during the Westminster Hall Adjournment Debate on Sport and Youth Crime on 6 December 2011.
Damian Collins: In the United States there is a programme called Badges for Baseball—all these programmes have snappy names—in which the police organise baseball and softball league games directly with young people. Does the Minister feel that there may be additional scope for police to be directly involved with such programmes in the UK?
Nick Herbert: The Positive Futures programme will continue until the end of 2013; thereafter, elected police and crime commissioners will have a budget that they can distribute for similar programmes, should they so choose.
