Superannuation Bill
Memorandum submitted by
John King
(SU 61)
I am a
37
year old
Civil Servant
, who has been
employed
since
June 5
th
2006
.
I am eligible for the Civil Service Compensation Scheme (CSCS).
I have spent
t
he last 4.5 years with One North East, The Regional Development Agency for the North East.
As an employee
of the Government
, the Bill, if passed, will affect me seriously. The cap will result
in
my position, as well as those of colleagues, becoming more
easily and
cheaply disposable. At a time when Civil Servants are being made to feel worthless, and to blame for the financial position of this country, this Bill
is a wholly unjustified attack on hard working public servants.
Losing my job will put me in severe financial difficulties at a time when there are very few job opportunities available.
I urge you to reconsider this Bill and find a fairer way of meeting the deficit. This Bill will have a severe impact especially on those who
are
in the CSCS, yet will make a relatively small contribution to meeting the country’s financial needs, which have been caused in large part by the greed of much better remunerated bankers and industry leaders.
