Superannuation Bill
Memorandum submitted by PCS (SU 79)
Additional information from Geoff Lewtas, Director of Bargaining, Equality and Policy Support, PCS:
I am writing to clarify oral evidence to the Public Bill Committee which I gave during the last session on 14 September. In my answer to a question from Jack Dromey MP on call centre workers pay, I answered the question saying Call centre workers in the civil service earn "about 14%" less than private sector workers. It has been pointed out to me that these words may not convey a sufficiently accurate picture. I have reviewed the information that this is based upon, and I think that a more accurate statement would be that civil service staff within call centres earn "up to 14%" less than their private sector comparators.
