Fifth Special Report
On 6 January 2011 the Energy and Climate Change Committee
published its Second Report of Session 2010-11, UK Deepwater
Drilling—Implications of the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill
[HC 450]. On 4 March 2011 the Committee received the Government's
response to the Report. We also received responses from the Falkland
Islands Government, on 13 January 2011, and from Oil & Gas
UK, on 8 March 2011. These are appended below.
Whilst we welcome the review of the UK's oil and
gas offshore regulatory regime which will report later this year,
we note that whilst this review is ongoing it has not been possible
for the Government to respond fully to the Committee's recommendations
and conclusions. We look forward to receiving the final report
of the review in due course, with an update from the Government
on its Response to our Report.
