Inward Investment in Wales
Supplementary written evidence submitted by the Rt Hon Mrs Cheryl Gillan MP, Secretary of State for Wales
I am writing further to my evidence session to the committee inquiry on Inward Investment on 5 December, during which I undertook to provide some additional information in respect of three particular issues.
Firstly, with regard to investors or potential investors I have met, I attach as an annex to this letter, a list of companies and organisations I have met since May 2010 with a view to developing the Welsh economy by securing further inward investment into Wales.
You also asked about the use of Gwydyr House by Welsh Government officials. As I advised the Committee, we have provided the Welsh Government with the use of a well-appointed self contained office in Gwydyr House. Access to the room is controlled but not monitored and so I am unable to provide information on the use of this room by the Welsh Government.
We discussed the use of office space built by the Welsh Government for inward investors. My office has contacted the First Minister’s office regarding this matter and I will clarify the position as soon as I receive a response.
I hope that this additional information on these specific points is useful and I look forward to reading the Committee’s report when it is published.
