The Backbench Business Committee was created in June 2010 to organise the allocation of the newly-created category of House of Commons proceedingsbackbench business.
This Report is intended to account to fellow backbenchers for how the Committee has discharged its responsibilities to them for organising backbench business in this first Session of its existence. It describes how the Committee was established, the approach to selecting business that has been adopted over the Session, and some of the complexities which have arisen in its work.
It is intended as our submission to the Procedure Committee's review of the operation of the Backbench Business Committee, which the House ordered in June 2010.
