In Q165 of the oral evidence session on Thursday
23 June, the Chairman asked if we could estimate the cost of compliance
with the GSCOP to date. Asda's costs in implementing the GSCOP
has exceeded £1 million. This comprises external legal advice;
introducing a new IT system; creating and delivering a comprehensive
training programme to ensure our trading colleagues are fully
aware of the requirements of the GSCOP; and introducing changes
to our supplier accreditation processes.
