In response to your letter of 15th July, I can confirm that I have not discussed the contents of our FA draft report with journalists or anyone else for that matter, nor have I shared or disclosed the report to anyone else. I received the report on Monday 11th July in a sealed envelope (received through internal mail to my office) and since then, I either carried it with me or left it in my Parliamentary locker. My staff have not had access to the report at all.

I am writing in response to the leak of the football governance report to the Daily Telegraph.

I can confirm that I have no knowledge of how the Daily Telegraph came into possession of facts contained in the report. As I mentioned at our meeting last Thursday, I was telephoned by Paul Kelso later on the evening of 11th July asking for my comment on the report, but I had not yet read it and told how I was unable to answer his questions.

Thank you for your recent letter about the leak of the Committee's Report on Football Governance to the Daily Telegraph.

I was not responsible for the leak. I have no recollection of ever speaking to the journalist Paul Kelso, nor had I even heard of him before reading the contents of your letter.

I am also pleased to be able to confirm that none of my staff members had sight of the draft Report in advance of its publication. For what it is worth, I had also not read the draft Report before it was reported in the Daily Telegraph.

I share your concern about the leak and support your decision to refer this matter in a Special Report to the House for further investigation.
