Annex 1: Note of the visit to Orkney
In October 2011 we visited Orkney. We met with representatives
from the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC), industry representatives
and representatives from the local council. We visited EMEC's
wave test site and substation at Billia Croo, the Lyness marine
renewables support base and the Hatston Development in Kirkwall.
We discussed the experiences to date of developing wave and tidal
energy in Orkney and the challenges that the industry is facing
.
