Annex 1: Note of the visit to the USA
In March 2011, we made a visit to Fort Worth and
Austin in Texas, and to Washington DC. In Fort Worth we met with
local shale gas industry representatives, environmental NGOs,
academics and local federal officials. In Austin we held meetings
with State regulators, oil and gas service industry representatives,
and the Lt. Governor. In Washington DC we met federal energy and
environment officials, as well as Congressmen from States where
the shale gas industry was already developed (Texas) or developing
(Pennsylvania). We discussed the lessons that each of these had
learned over the past decade as the shale gas industry expanded
in the USA.
