HC 1929-iCorrespondence submitted by Charles Crichlow, National Black Police Association President [MC03]

Following recent revelations in the Metropolitan Police with regard to alleged Police racist abuse and violence. I would like to draw my concerns about these incidents and the wider implications to your committee’s attention. I would like to do so in the context of Ministry of Justice Statistics on race in the Criminal Justice System and serious concern that Racism in the Police has gone unchecked as part of failure of Government and Police Leadership to keep this issue firmly on their agenda.

I would therefore call upon your committee to hold an inquiry into the nature and extent of racism in the Police Service. The National Black Police Association and its affiliate associations across the country will fully cooperate with such an inquiry.
