May I even at this late time add a little more evidence
of the debacle that G4S have been complicit in allowing to happen
in the utterly disgraceful way in which they have failed to live
up to their contractual obligations in both recruiting and supplying
a sufficient number of staff for the forthcoming Olympic Games.
In February and March this year, totally out of the
blue I was contacted by both e-mail and phone by Recruiting Staff
from G4S offering me employment on the staff for the Games. I
was very surprised and curious as I had not even approached G4S
re employment. It was indicated to me that I would take up a Supervisory
Post. This was in view of my service with the Metropolitan Police
(1960-99) much of this in a supervisory role.
It appeared to me that matters were not going to
plan for G4S for recruitment and that they were having a problem.
In the light of the events over the past days it
is abundantly clear that serious failings had already occurred
in the recruitment take up and procedures. I am simply amazed
that those in authority did not see this worrying trend or it
was carefully hidden from view by G4S.
It is utterly appalling but surprising to me that
G4S have let everybody down. No doubt the Police Service from
all parts of the UK will step in and save the day ably assisted
by the Military. Yes I had also been a soldier.
