The foundation does want a post 2015 framework to have extreme poverty as its core focus. Addressing extreme poverty has widespread consensus (there is no disagreement that this is important, though the “how” may be disputed), and we think it’s an issue that requires global action, and where global action can be agreed. Part of why the MDGs succeeded is that they also were understandable to the public and had innate resonance; we think this should be another feature to replicate.
