Communities and Local Government CommitteeWritten evidence from British Approvals for Fire Equipment (BAFE) (FRR 04)
On behalf of BAFE (British Approvals for Fire Equipment) we would submit the following question to be raised by the Committee for Communities and Local Government to Sir Ken Knight :
“Sir Ken Knight’s Review, although far reaching and hard hitting made no mention of the importance of Third Party Certification in promoting fire safety in the built environment. In light of the Lakanal House incident in London and the subsequent inquiry do you think that Local Authorities and indeed private contractors should seek to utilise quality products and third party accredited installers as well as securing suitably qualified and accredited fire risk assessors?”
BAFE is the independent, third party certification registration body for the UK fire protection industry. We develop schemes based on current British Standards and industry best practice. Companies who provide these services are certificated by UKAS accredited Certification Bodies and we now have well over 1000 registered companies in all parts of the UK.
