Thank you for the recent opportunity to discuss the Local Government Association’s (LGA) position on the Knight Review. Please find attached the LGA’s Fire Future Funding Report and the Surrey Fire and Rescue Governance Review, June 2013; both of which I promised to share with your Committee during my evidence.

As you will read, the Fire Future Funding Report outlines the success Fire Authorities have had in securing efficiency savings; details the future financial challenges; and provides recommendations for putting the Fire Service on a sustainable footing. The Surrey Fire and Rescue Review sets out the way governance models are changing in order to ensure that the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service is able to remain efficient and effective into the future.
