I would like to see a written inventory as a requirement for the tenant to receive when taking up a tenancy.

Such an inventory would be of benefit to local housing authority staff when carrying out their duties.

Far too many times I have had the tale … the landlord/landlady won’t do any repairs and maintenance.

Fair enough, but what was the condition of the letting at the start, and what deficiencies were obvious then and brought to the tenants attention.

The importance of the private rented sector is growing, as those seek alternative to mortgage agreements, (limited availability) social housing, and staying on with parents.
