This report sets out the actions taken by the Women and Equalities Committee to scrutinise the quality of the Government’s Impact on Equalities analysis relating to the 2015 Spending Review and Autumn Statement. It shows how a request for a Treasury Minister to give evidence to the Committee and a subsequent request for more detailed information from both HM Treasury and other government departments has been refused. It is the Committee’s view that greater transparency is essential in order for the Government to demonstrate that it has fulfilled its obligations to assess the equalities impacts of future Spending Reviews, Budgets and Autumn Statements.
