That this House declines to give a Second Reading to the Finance (No. 3) Bill because it derives from the 2018 Budget which confirmed the continuation of austerity, provided tax cuts for higher earners and failed to follow Scotland’s lead in progressive taxation, failed to provide the funding required to provide a social security system that treats people with dignity and respect, failed to provide the necessary stimulus to compensate for the economic impact of Brexit, furthered age discrimination and did not give young people a real Living Wage, failed to provide concrete measures to support the oil and gas industry, failed to match Scottish Government funding for sectoral and regional deals covering the whole of Scotland, failed to repay the Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s iniquitous VAT bills, failed to give back the convergence uplift funds reallocated away from Scottish crofters, and is a wholly inadequate response to the economic challenges being faced by Scotland and the UK.
