8High Speed Rail (West Midlands - Crewe) Bill

The Speaker laid upon the Table a Report from the Examiners of Petitions for Private Bills, as follows:

(1) The Secretary of State for Transport deposited a certificate in the Private Bill Office on 24 October, pursuant to Standing Order 224A(5), stating that all the comments on the environmental statement relating to the High Speed Rail (West Midlands - Crewe) Bill, deposited on 18 July, were received by the independent assessor by 23 October;

(2) the Examiners have instructed the independent assessor to prepare the report required under Standing Order 224A(6)(a)(i) within 28 days, that is, by Monday 20 November; and

(3) before setting the period in paragraph 2, the Examiners consulted the Secretary of State for Transport, pursuant to Standing Order 224A(6)(iv).

9Middle Level Bill

A Bill to amend and update the powers of the Middle Level Commissioners to regulate navigation on the Middle Level of the Fens in the city of Peterborough and the counties of Cambridgeshire and Norfolk; to make further provision as to the regulation of navigation on those waterways; to make other provision as to the Commissioners; and for other purposes.
Bill read the first and second time, and committed to an Opposed Bill Committee (Order, 17 October).

The Speaker appoints the Chair of General Committees and members of Programming Sub-Committees, and allocates Statutory Instruments to Delegated Legislation Committees.

The Selection Committee nominates Members to serve on General Committees (and certain Members to serve on Grand Committees).
