Summary

I have considerable experience in legal and government work. I was a Minister in two UK Government departments, and a Member of Parliament for 7 years. I now sit in the house of Lords. I have a comprehensive understanding of government affairs.

I chaired the UK office of global communications firm Hume Brophy and have a number of senior advisory/board advisory roles.

I oversaw all DFID programmes in Sub-Saharan Africa, global funds contributions and related policy decisions. This included setting direction, assessment and signoff of business cases and managing relationships with other donor and donee countries.
