Children's Wellbeing and Schools Bill
Written evidence submitted by A & J Designs (Staffs) Ltd to The Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Bill Committee (CWSB198)
The Government are proposing to limit the about of school uniform for pupils although I don’t think this has been thought through from a employment or industry prepective.
The proposals will have a massive impact on my industry like the industry will shrink with less companies which in turn will hike prices through the roof for the parents they say the Government are trying to help and prices will spiral up and competitive prices will not exist and the supermarkets will have a monopoly on prices the quality of garments will last even less than the current unforms that are being purchasing from proper school uniform retailers, employment will follow because companies will purchase less stock from U.K suppliers, forward orders with Far East companies will be non-existent and any invest for staff or machinery will cease.
We as a company offer a saving scheme to families on low incomes or one parent families and you would be amazed how many parents don’t take up the saving scheme which is absolutely free plus the schools who offer lost uniform in their shops and again parents don’t come in so actually the only people the Government are harming are companies like mine and my industry as a whole I thought Labour was for encouraging business not ways of sending business’s in liquidation.
If the bill goes through the impact will be massive this needs to be STOPPED IN ITS TRACKS before recession starts to loom.
