Joint Committee on The Draft Communications Bill Appendices to the Minutes of Evidence

Memorandum submitted by B Willis

Unfortunately I missed the BSkyB witnesses giving evidence but would still like to comment on the proceedings. As I have said before I think that now that we have 150 channels or more to make our choices from at least 10 channels should be uncensored for those of us who are more grown up than the religious right are and should be treated as adults. If a channel is called THE ADULT CHANNEL then it should be assumed that adults are watching that channel and should be allowed to see adult material. Not what the government considers adult but what most adults consider adult. If the government considers the site of a topless girl is pornographic then it is up to the government to grow up not for us to have to take their opinions as fact. I do hope that OFCOM is going to have at least 95 per cent of its people actually grown up ie NONE RELIGIOUS.
