Memorandum from the Department for Education and Skills
EDUCATION (QCA LEVY) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2002 (S.I. 2002/1331)
- The Committee requested a memorandum on the following points.
"In its memorandum of 25 March 2002 to the Committee the Department indicated that it would consider amending regulation 6 of the Education (QCA Levy) Regulations 2002. (The Department is referred to the Committee's 25th Report of the current Session). Is the Department still considering amending that regulation? If not, what is the Department's reason?"
- As stated in its memorandum of 25 March 2002 to the Committee, the Department does not necessarily believe that the existing provisions of regulation 6 are unnecessarily complex. The Department does however agree that the provisions may be more clearly expressed than at present. The Department is also conscious of the Committee's desire, expressed in the Committee's 25th Report of the current Session, for subordinate legislation to be drafted as clearly and simply as the subject matter permits. In the light of this, and having regard to the Committee's suggested approach set out in the 25th Report, the Department intends to amend this regulation accordingly when a suitable opportunity arises.
