Joint Committee On Human Rights Written Evidence

45.Submission from Jay Walmsley

I am delighted to see this bill and am deeply grateful to the Government for introducing it and to all those who have worked to bring it about. I have lived contentedly as a woman for several years now, and all that is lacking is my full legal status as such. There is a feeling of being not quite complete, of being vulnerable. The bill will provide that legal security which currently I do not have, and then transition will be complete.

The bill is simple, sensible and to the point. The evidence required is both necessary and reasonable, and hopefully the process will be easy and not unduly protracted.

I wish the bill a smooth and untroubled passage through Parliament and hope that it rapidly becomes law.
