Joint Committee on the Draft Charities Bill Written Evidence

Memorandum from Brigadier Sir Miles Hunt-Davis, KCVO, CBE (DCH 54)

I have seen the Independent Services Agency's written evidence submitted for consideration by the Parliamentary Joint Committee.

I have been a trustee of a number of service charities and also held command of a Gurkha Battalion and two other appointments at Brigadier level where Non Public Funds are an important fact of life.

In the light of my own experience, I wish to state that the submission by the Independent Services Agency has my total support and I recommend it to you. It is essential in my view to recognise that the Armed Forces have a unique position in this matter which should be recognised in the new Charities Bill.
