Joint Committee on the Draft Charities Bill Written Evidence

Memorandum from Consumers' Association (DCH 134)

The Consumers' Association is grateful for the opportunity to comment on the consultative proposals for a Charities Bill.

We support the substance of what is proposed and we wish to associate ourselves with the comments of the Institute of Fundraising and the way that self regulation should develop in the Charities Sector following the proposals in the Buse report. We would stress the importance of increasing transparency and availability of information about the uses to which charitable donations are put, so as to increase donor confidence.
