Joint Committee on the Draft Disability Discrimination Bill Written Evidence

Memorandum from the Passenger Shipping Association (DDB 143)

The Passenger Shipping Association is the trade UK body for cruise and ferry companies. We currently have 31 cruise and 19 ferry members, I have attached a list for your information. [74]

I have only recently been made aware of the consultation exercise that you have been carrying out regarding the inclusion of Passenger shipping in the PDA.

Thank you for sending me the responses that you have received from P&O Ferries and Stena Line. I completely endorse their views. The characteristics of passenger shipping are very different from shore establishments. We feel that the current guidelines we operate are perfectly adequate and we receive very little in the way of complaints. There is no reason for the exemption to be withdrawn.
