Joint Committee on the Draft Gambling Bill Memoranda

Memoranda from BALPPA (DGB 72)

DBG 72

John Greenway MP,

Chairman Joint Committee Gambling Bill

House of Commons Scrutiny Unit (010)

7 Millbank

London SW1P 3JA

Dear Mr Greenway.

I enclose a submission from our Association in response to the publication of the Draft Gambling Bill.

In respecting the difficult task facing you and the Members of your Committee in reading the numerous submissions you will receive, we have attempted to restrict our submission to the key elements of the Bill that impact on the livelihood of those of our Members operating Gaming Machines.

We would reserve our position to make further submissions by the end of February in accordance with the timescale given by the DCMS at the Liaison Group Meeting on 3rd December. This is particularly relevant in consideration of the extremely short response period allowed for initial submissions on this Draft.

May I also request the opportunity to make a verbal submission on behalf or our Members at a date to suit your convenience.

Yours sincerely

Colin Dawson

Chief Executive
