Joint Committee on the Draft Gambling Bill Minutes of Evidence

10.  Supplementary memorandum from the British Casino Association (GMB 45)

British Casino Association response to Question from Lord Faulkner relating to the appropriate bodies to decide where Regional should be located, and in particular whether this should be a matter for Central Government.

"We believe that Regional Planning Bodies will play an increasingly important role with regard to a number of sectors and across a range of issues and we are content to liaise with them, as well as local authorities, on where best to develop casinos in the best interests of everyone. If it is proposed that Central Government, presumably through the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, were to take the lead, then we would wish to work closely with that Department as well. Our objective, regardless of who takes the lead, is to ensure the maximum benefit for both communities and the industry in deciding on appropriate locations."
