Appendix 3 S.I. 2003/2604: memorandum

Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rating (Electronic
Communications) (England) Order 2003 (S.I. 2003/2604)
1. The Committee has asked for a memorandum on the
following point -
Article 6(b) inserts in the Non-Domestic Rating
(Collection and Enforcement) (Local Lists) Regulations 1989 a
definition of the demand notice regulations. Why does the definition
not include a reference to the Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rating
(Demand Notices) (England) Regulations 2003 (S.I. 2003/2613)?
2. The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister accepts
that a reference to the Council Tax and Non-Domestic Rating (Demand
Notices) (England) Regulations 2003 (S.I. 2003/2613) ought
to have been included in the definition. It was omitted due to
an oversight for which the Office apologises. An amendment will
be made before the end of the year to the Non-Domestic Rating
(Collection and Enforcement) (Local Lists) Regulations 1989 to
include such a reference and the amending instrument will be issued
free of charge.
