S.I. 2012/3064: memorandum from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office

Al-Qaida (United Nations Measures) (Overseas Territories) (Amendment) Order 2012 (S.I. 2012/3064)

1.  The Committee requested a memorandum on the following points:

Given that the sole purpose of this instrument is to correct an error in S.I. 2012/1757, why does this instrument not bear a headnote stating that it is being made available free of charge to all known purchasers of that instrument, as required by paragraph 3.4.14 of Statutory Instrument Practice?

2.  The FCO regrets that the "Free of Charge" headnote was omitted in error. Based on advice from the office of the Statutory Instrument Registrar regarding normal practice in such cases, the FCO proposes to ask the Stationery Office (TSO) to issue a refund to all known purchasers of S.I. 2012/3064 and to issue the instrument free of charge to all known purchasers of S.I. 2012/1757. TSO will also be requested to add the headnote to any future additional print run for the instrument, should one be required.
