The Code of Conduct and the Guide to the Code
of Conduct
The present Code of Conduct for Members of the House
of Lords was agreed on 30 November 2009; certain amendments were
agreed by the House on 30 March 2010.
The Guide to the Code of Conduct was proposed by
the Committee for Privileges (2nd Report, 2009-10, HL Paper 81)
and agreed by the House on 17 March 2010. The Guide was amended
on 9 November 2011.
In accordance with the 2nd Report of the Committee
for Privileges of 2009-10 the Code of Conduct and the accompanying
Guide came into force at the start of the 2010-12 session of Parliament
(18 May 2010).
Review
The Code is reviewed once each Parliament by the
Sub-Committee on Lords' Conduct, a sub-committee of the Committee
for Privileges and Conduct. The Sub-Committee is also charged
with keeping the Guide to the Code of Conduct under regular review.
