Then Lord McKenzie of Luton moved, as an amendment to the original motion, to leave out from "that" to the end and insert "it is desirable that the Savings Accounts and Health in Pregnancy Grant Bill should go through its legislative stages in a timetable which allows this House to scrutinise the provisions of the Bill and allows both Houses to pass the Bill without recourse to enactment under section 1 of the Parliament Act 1911". The debate on the amendment was adjourned.

The House adjourned. The House resumed.
