5.1.1 In addition to the normal travel arrangements,
the cost of journeys made on parliamentary business elsewhere
within the United Kingdom may also be recovered. Claims for
such travel are subject to the prior
approval of the Clerk of the Parliaments
and to the following conditions:
· parliamentary
business' is defined as business clearly related to the work
of Parliament and does not include party political, personal
or private business;
· travelling expenses
are recoverable for travel by public transport or road, subject
to the limitations outlined in paragraphs 4.2.3 - 4.2.8;
· that these travelling
expenses are not recoverable from any source other than the
House of Lords;
· application for
reimbursement of these travelling expenses should be submitted
to the Clerk of the Parliaments (via the Accountant's Office)
at least one week before the date of the proposed journey;
· Members should
confirm the actual travelling expenses incurred after the journey
has been undertaken.
5.1.2 Application forms for these claims
are available from the Accountant's Office.
5.2 Industry and Parliament Trust (IPT)
5.2.1 The costs of journeys made on business
connected with the Industry and Parliament Trust may be claimed
from the House of Lords as part of the UK travel scheme, so
long as they meet the terms of the scheme set out above. All
other claims should be addressed to the IPT.
5.3 Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme
(AFPS)
5.3.1 The costs of journeys made on business
connected with the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme may be
claimed from the House of Lords as part of the UK travel scheme,
so long as they meet the terms of the scheme set out above.
All other claims should be addressed to the AFPS.
