Lord Brougham and Vaux asked Her Majesty's Government:

When they will make public the results of consultation responses on the document "Old Mineral Permissions 1948–1981" issued by the Department of the Environment in March 1994.

The Minister of State, Department of the Environment (Viscount Ullswater): I have today placed copies of a list of all those who responded to the consultation together with a summary of their views in the Libraries of the House. A copy of any individual

Lord Skelmersdale asked Her Majesty's Government:

What is the current status of bilateral relations with Sudan.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Chalker of Wallasey): A new ambassador will arrive in the Republic of Sudan in March to take up his appointment following the official retirement date of the preceding ambassador, who was expelled at the end of 1993. Our bilateral concerns about the civil war, human rights, and the distribution of humanitarian relief supplies can be better pursued with the Sudanese government if we have an ambassador in Khartoum.
