Baroness Jay of Paddington: The information requested is not held centrally. I refer the noble Baroness to the national boards for Nursing, Midwifery and Health Visiting for England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland for the information that is available on the number of nurses entering training in each year since 1970.

What was the number of (a) qualified, (b) unqualified, (c) learners and (d) other whole-time
What was the number of general medical services practice nurses in each year since 1970; and
What was the number of nurses on bank or agency contracts in each year since 1970.
