11.National Health Service (Private Finance) Bill [HL]—The report was received; an amendment was moved and (by leave of the House) withdrawn.
12.Contracting Out (Functions in relation to the provision of Guardians Ad Litem and Reporting Officers Panels) Order 1997—It was moved by the Baroness Jay of Paddington that the draft Order laid before the House on 9th June be approved; the motion was agreed to.
13.Army, Air Force and Naval Discipline Acts (Continuation) Order 1997—It was moved by the Lord Gilbert that the draft Order laid before the House on 21st May be approved; after debate, the motion was agreed to.
14.Coordinated Universal Time Bill [HL]—The House resolved itself into a Committee upon the bill; amendments were agreed to; the question that a clause stand part of the bill was negatived; the House was resumed and the bill was reported with amendments; it was ordered that the bill be printed as amended. 15.Road Transport: S & T Report—It was moved by the Lord Dixon-Smith that this House take note of the Report of the Science and Technology Committee, Towards Zero Emissions for Road Transport (First Report, Session 1996–97, HL Paper 13); after debate, the motion was agreed to.
16.Asbestos—The Lord Howie of Troon asked Her Majesty’s Government what plans they have to end the use of asbestos-based products in the United Kingdom construction industry; after debate, the question was answered by the Baroness Farrington of Ribbleton.
