Social Security Bill—A bill to make provision as to the making of decisions and the determination of appeals under enactments relating to social security, child support, vaccine damage payments and war pensions; to make further provision with respect to social security; and for connected purposes was brought from the Commons, read a first time and ordered to be printed. (HL Bill 55) 9. Liaison Committee—It was moved by the Chairman of Committees that the First Report from the Select Committee (HL Paper 39) be agreed to; the motion was agreed to. 10. Teaching and Higher Education Bill [HL]—It was moved by the Baroness Blackstone that the bill be now read a second time; after debate, the motion was agreed to and the bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole House. 11. Burma and Sudan—The Baroness Cox asked Her Majesty’s Government how their commitment to a foreign policy based on human rights is being implemented in Burma and Sudan; after debate, the question was answered by the Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean. The House was adjourned at seventeen minutes before one o’clock in the morning of Friday 12th December to Monday next, half-past two o’clock.
